Now that I’ve discovered that I really can sew, my wardrobe has opened up so many opportunities.  What to do with all those clothes I haven’t worn in ages? Why, re-make them into clothes for Emma of course!  I wish I had a before picture of this sweater (one of the problems with having a photographer for a husband – when he’s doing a shoot, I don’t have any cameras in the house.) But it was basically a mommy-sized version of what you see here:

I love my little model!

Little Miss Personality

Emma has been the queen of facial expressions lately.  She keeps coming up with funny new ones all the time.  It makes me more curious than ever to know what’s going on in that little head of hers.  Whatever it is, she must think she’s pretty funny!

Her lastest obsession is walking down the sidewalk to the end of the street with Mommy or Daddy in tow.  (Don’t worry grandparents, she can’t open the front door by herself, and besides, we keep the door dead bolted all the time.)  Last night after dinner was walked to the Holy Souls playground and she was so proud of herself for making it the whole way with out being held.  I don’t know why we haven’t visited the playground before now.  It has the greatest little tunnel that Emma played in the whole time we were there.  She put rocks in the tunnel, then pushed them out, then piled them up, then handed them to me.  For twenty minutes.  Ahhhh, to be so easily entertained!  It was a little after 7pm when we headed back to the house — the perfect time of day for shadows, which is another one of her favorite things right now.  The whole way home, she held my hand with one hand and waved at her shadow with the other.

I can’t help but wish sometimes that I was a kid again.

This is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time.  Until Jacob can show me how to have the video show up here directly on my blog, you’ll have to just watch it via the link below, but trust me, you do not want to miss this!!

Seven hours later . . .

I haven’t taken a shower today, much less washed my face (should I even admit that?).  I have a lot to show for my time spent doing more important things today though.  I know pride goeth before the fall, but I can’t help but feel a little proud of the dress I made for Em today.  It turned out practically perfect.  I’ve never made something that ended up so “finished”.  Not a raw seam in sight.  I’m missing the loops for the buttons down the back, but otherwise it’s a job well done.  Here’s the finished product:

Biker Babe

In an effort to fully enjoy the incredible weather we’ve had lately, Jacob, Em and I went for a bike ride this past Saturday.  I haven’t ridden a bike in a LONG time and it was great.  But even better was seeing Em in her adorable bike helmet completely soaking in the beautiful day.  It was such a fun thing to do as a family.  That being said, I want a bike of my own, one with a baby seat in back.

Photo Shoot

Jacob did a little photo shoot with Em today while I was at a movie. Here are a few of my favorites. LOVE THEM!!

In my new found sewing frenzy, I picked these up the other day_MG_4332hoping I’d figure out something to make with them.  They were just too cute to pass up – I could practically see Emma wearing them in some form or fashion.  Ever since, I’ve been searching for just the right patterns, only to find out that patterns are so boring!!  I wanted something fun and funky.  And that’s when I stumbled on this and this.  Thank you  Can’t wait to get out my sewing machine!!
